PAPA Awards Scotland Regional Heat at O’Oliviero
The 28th Annual PAPA Awards have been launched to showcase the finest pizza, pasta and Italian food businesses across the country. This year we will also be celebrating the Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Association’s 40th Anniversary!
The competition is held in conjunction with the existing quest for Pizza Chef of the Year and takes in five regional heats and then a Grand Final.
From 10:00am on Tuesday 3 October O’Oliviero will host Scotland’s regional heat in Edinburgh to have a chance to enter Pasta Chef of the Year Grand Final in London on 16 November 2017.
The Pasta Chef of the Year competition offers to more than 20 participants from Scotland the chance to receive considerable publicity and prestige for them and their business, by winning a regional category and ultimately the overall title of Pasta Chef of the Year. In addition, there’s ample opportunity to network with colleagues and suppliers in the industry, test their creativity and innovation and showcase the winning pasta dishes on their menu.
The Competition: Contestants are required to design a pasta dish around each of the two categories using either of the nominated products.
Short Cut Pasta • Trivelli • Rigatoni
Long cut Pasta • Tagliatelli • Pappardelle
In both categories, chefs must create a unique dish or an inventive interpretation of a classic dish. Judges will be looking to see how the dish showcases the pasta whilst considering commercial viability, overall composition, flavour and appeal. Please note that ‘al forno’ dishes will be very difficult to produce due to time and oven restrictions at the competitions.
The heat winners will compete at the final taking place at The European Pizza and Pasta Show – Olympia on Thursday 16 th November and will also receive 2 tickets for the awards ceremony taking place the same evening at The Hotel Lancaster. The overall winner of The Pizza Chef of the Year and the Pasta Chef of the Year Competition will each receive a Trophy and a cheque for £500.
